ARRANGEMENTS & CHARGES
Counselling sessions usually last an hour and take place once a week, generally at the same appointment time and within normal working hours, with some variation to allow for changes in work shifts or other circumstances. Having at least three sessions gives you time to experience whether counselling is benefiting you, and, if you feel it is, additional sessions can then be arranged.
Contact between sessions is normally restricted to making arrangements for session attendance. Unattended sessions are not charged for provided 48 hours’ notice is given. Endings are an important part of the therapeutic process and it is beneficial for counselling to end in a planned way, and, although it is understood that life circumstances may suddenly change, it is normal to give a minimum of one weeks’ notice before finishing.
While you, as the client, are free to share the content of your sessions with whoever you wish, as your Counsellor, I maintain strict confidentiality, with the exception of a few, very rare situations where human safety is threatened. Client records and notes (short summaries about what happens in session) are securely stored, until destroyed after a statutory 6 year period.
Charges & payments
For counselling that takes place in my consulting room in Penzance, I charge £35-£45 per 1 hour session.
The charge for sessions held elsewhere will include additional costs for room hire and travel time/costs. Payment is normally at the end of each session, or, in the case of employer-funded counselling, at the end of each block of sessions.
