QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
I have a Diploma in Person Centred Counselling and Therapy (University of Plymouth 2007). I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP membership no. 623636) and the BACP Register, approved by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care (member no. 041430).
I am bound by the BACP’s Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling & Psychotherapy and operate under appropriate professional liability insurance (Towergate Professional Risks, customer no. RAJX38IN01). I am bound by the BACP’s Professional Conduct Procedure.
In order to provide the best possible service to clients, in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework, I engage in counselling supervision, ongoing self-care and continual professional development (CPD).
I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office and comply with the obligations around keeping and processing client information required under the Data Protection Act (ICO Registration reference: ZA029380).
I trained as a counsellor after having benefitted from counselling myself, which gives me understanding of what it is like to be in the client’s chair.
I have been working as a counsellor since 2005, initially for Cornwall Youth Service, providing time-limited, solution-focused counselling for 13 – 25 year olds. I now have a private practice offering counselling to adults of all ages.
As well as clients who self-refer, I provide employer-funded counselling – for NHS staff referred by Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust’s Occupational Health Service and for employees of Age UK Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
“Jeanette has a large variety of tools to offer and the sessions were not just hard work but also very interesting and good fun. No better way to support yourself if you want to make a fresh start or an important shift.”
I also have experience of facilitating staff peer support groups and other team/partnership working relationships, and of providing individual support of a professional/life coaching nature.
Prior to and alongside my counselling practice, I worked for over three decades as an archaeologist. Many years spent uncovering the stories of past peoples has enhanced my capacity to support clients in understanding their hidden selves.
“Jeanette has helped me work through changes in my career, and personal relationships, and given me the confidence and awareness to find the truth within myself.”
